To the casual eye management can seem pretty simple; you just need to tell others what to do. Of course this is not actually the case, it is far more complex and, if done badly, can have devastating effects on the company.

In fact a good manager won’t even tell their employees what to do!

No matter which way you look at it the world of business is evolving fast, technology is developing at a rapid pace and it is likely that businesses will be fully digitalized within the next 5 – 8 years. This means that the current management skills will need to evolve; it may be time to consider taking a business administration at Courses.com.au. You want to be ahead of the game not playing catch up.

Understanding Tech.

A manager won’t necessarily need to understand all the technology being used but they will need to understand what the technology is supposed to do and how it affects the overall business. Managers will be able to delegate more to apps and even A.I. robots in order to focus on the bigger picture.

Listening.

This is an important skill today and will be even more so in the future. Technology will mean that the business environment can change dramatically virtually overnight. A manger will need to be capable of listening to others before making the best decision for the company.

The staff that are working directly with technology will probably have the best idea of where it is going and how to apply it to the business; they need to be listened to.

Communication.

Again this existing skill will need to be honed further in order to ensure that all employees are happy and productive. Good communication involves being precise about what is expected from each employee, handing out feedback and talking about the future. Employees who feel engaged are more likely to be loyal and will be more productive.

Accepting of Diversity.

Because technology will be moving at such a fast pace it is likely that there will be more use of outside contractors to help get the right results. Management will need to be adept at contacting, negotiating and handling an array of contractors in order to get the best results for the business.

This will mean dealing with issues between employees especially as the average age of employees alters. Baby boomers are likely to work past retirement age while generation Z will be entering the workforce. There can be a huge difference in the approach to work and problems that will need managing sensitively.

Collaboration.

Instead of managing employees by telling them what to do the aim will be to work alongside them. This collaborative approach will encourage innovation and productivity by connecting with employees and getting the best out of them for the company and their own personal development.

Emotional Awareness.

It is believed that the emotional intelligence of the average human will increase over the next 10 years. This means people will become more self aware and able to assess their own strengths and weaknesses. Management will need to b able to connect on this level with empathy and help employees to improve their weaknesses through training and experience.
