The Psychology Of Receiving Money

As a psychologist I’ve developed a new paradigm for therapy titled Pragmatic Psychology. It uses a unique set of pragmatic and question-oriented tools and strategies for great success treating clients with all types of psychological issues and disorders, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD.

Interestingly, the same tools are working to improve people’s relationship with money. By shifting people’s mindsets from what is wrong with them to what is right, they are able to identify and create income streams they were never able to see before and increase their earnings.

Psychologists are often trained to look at what doesn’t work… not what does… which can keep a person stuck and unable to see what else they might be beyond their diagnosis or disability. Pragmatic Psychology, meaning ‘to do what works’ is helping people who feel wrong, connect with what is actually amazing and right about them. Rather than being dramatic, I support my clients to be pragmatic, and it works.

Here are some of my tips:

1. Stop making money about the money. Warning: this can feel impossible at first.

When you don’t make money about money, you go immediately into creation. You make what is fun for you matter and not the lack you are making real. Money comes when you do not focus on it and when you create. One of the definitions of want is lack. When you want something, you push things away. Instead, focus on who you are, what you’re passionate about, what brings you joy, your skills and your ability to make a difference in the world. Money will flow.

2. Check or change your beliefs about money
.

Whatever you believe to be true about money is exactly what you will create. If you believe that money is hard to get, it will be. Connect with a belief that money is easy to get. Ask yourself: What is my belief about money? Who does this belief belong to?

3. Be willing to receive.

Money is about your ability to receive. There’s an art to receiving what you ask for. It is especially enhanced when you don’t have a point of view about how and when it should show up. Be willing to receive.

4. Stop worrying about money. Start creating instead.

When humans don’t have anything to worry about, they start to create. If you stopped worrying about everything (including money), you can start to create, including income channels, and your life will just work. Ask yourself: What am I worried about? Can I stop worrying? When I stop, what do I want to create?

5. Understand there are many streams of income with many different qualities.

Many people have a fixed notion there is only one revenue stream, such as their full-time job. This means they miss other streams from which it can flow in from. Most people find traditional money-making channels so dissatisfying. It’s important to understand that everyone has their own way of creating more money, which is what Right Riches for You actually means. Ask yourself: what other incomes streams are available to me?

6. Have gratitude for money.

Money brings us many wonderful experiences, so develop an intimate and beautiful relationship with your money and cultivate gratitude. When you look at your bank account and any cash in your wallet, savor the abundance it represents.

7. Earn money to have it, not spend it.

Have money and keep it. It will give you a sense of wealth. Transfer 10 percent of everything you earn into separate bank account and never spend it.

8. Start shopping for the things you can’t afford.

Play with what money can buy. Go into a shop you usually walk straight past. Feel into what you’d really like to have in there. Ask yourself: If money was not the issue, what would I choose? Take a picture of yourself wearing the clothes, or with a particular item, and receive the energetic contribution of it in the moment. Ask yourself: What would it take for me to have this in the future with total ease?

9. Being totally clear about what you spend each month.

If you are really clear on what your life costs, you know exactly what to ask for as you create your multiple income streams. Also, get clear about your debt, exactly how much it is and exactly how long it will take you to pay it off.
