If you fancy yourself as a bit of an entrepreneur, see how many of these things on our list you’ve done or plan to do during your business venture:

1. Stay focused on their vision.

First and foremost, it’s important that the vision of the business is at the heart of everything you do to ensure that you’re as likely to reach it as possible. Having a vision and a clear-cut plan is so important in giving you something to work towards, too.

2. Recruit a like-minded team.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it wasn’t built by one person. You’ll need a team behind/with you to help create your business and help your vision come to life before your eyes. Ensure you all want the same things, and ultimately that you all want what’s best for the business.

Idea Generation

3. Adapt and listen to new ideas.

The world of business is changing all the time, as are things like technology and marketing. You’ll need to get with the times and keep up in terms of adapting, and you’ll need to be open to new ideas and ways of thinking to better your chances of success in today’s fast paced world.

4. Understand their audience/market.

Your customer will also be at the centre of everything you do, so it’s important that you know who they are, what they want and what problems they face. This way you can help to serve them as efficiently and successfully as possible.

5. Plan for the future.

Companies that have lasting power – like FujiXerox, who are celebrating their fourth decade in the business – usually have a long term strategy and you can achieve this too by having a business plan and vision for the future. You’ll need to work on the element of your product/service that has longevity so that your business will be a long term success.

6. Work on self promotion.

You’ll need to get used to promoting yourself and getting your name heard to anyone and everyone who will listen. You’ll also need to master the art of doing this without being to ‘in your face’, so you don’t end up annoying people instead, which won’t exactly be the desired affect…

7. Invest in vital things for the business.

You’ll need lots of things to get started and to keep your business going as you progress. This can be anything from office equipment to company vehicles, to a bigger office for your growing team. Making wise investments is really important so you don’t end up wasting time, energy and money.

8. Know when to take a break.

It’s easy for a new business to take over your life, especially during really significant points in getting in started and as you go along. But you’ll need to know when to take a step back and make time for other important things, too.

9. Build up their online presence.

It’s no surprise that almost everything is online these days, and you’ll need to get yourself and your business online to create an online presence to keep up with this. Build up social media profiles and invest in a really good website.

10. Manage their money efficiently.

Money management won’t be everyone’s forte, so if it isn’t yours, it’s highly recommended to get some outside help in the form of an accountant to help you manage your business finances as efficiently as possible.
