Small question: What kinds of people usually achieve great success? Most of the successful people are usually confident, self-conscious and focused. These people never stay at one place for too long; they prefer developing and moving.

If you want to make some positive changes in your life and achieve your goals, you should say no to some things that stand on your way. It is not as easy as it may sound. Starting from today, try not to…

1. Let other people control your life.

Most of the people around you know your name, but may not know the real you. They know your achievements but they don’t know what you went through to achieve them. So, don’t always follow their lead. Because at the end, it is more important what you think of yourself than what other people think. That’s why you often should do what is best for your life and not something that would please other people.

2. Be ashamed of your past mistakes.

We all make mistakes sometimes, it is normal. And the sooner you get used to this thought, the easier it will be for you to achieve your goals. Your past does not define your future. The fact, that yesterday, or a couple of months, or the last year, or the last five years were not so successful for you, doesn’t mean that it can all change today. Your future is defined only by what you are doing now.

3. Have no goals.

You will not leave the place you are in now until you decide where you want to be. You should find your passion, the job that you want to do the most and start working on fighting for it. When you have a passion, you are full of energy and strength to move forward. Without it, your life loses its meaning. Realize what you want and go get it.

4. Put off important things for tomorrow.

We all have a choice whether to accept your life the way it is or take the responsibility of changing it the way you want. Follow your intuition. Never refuse things that are important to you. If you want to do something – do it now. Live like there is no tomorrow, no matter how cliché it may sound. Remember, you can either start going towards your dream today, or regret not doing it in the future.

5. Always want to be right by all means.

Don’t always insist on your rightness (even if at the moment it is so). Sometimes it can be you who make mistakes, and you have all the rights to make them. Mistakes teach us so many lessons and help us become wiser and move forward. So don’t try to be right every time.

6. Find excuses instead of dealing with problems.

Life is a constant contest of fixing problems. A mistake is not a failure if you don’t refuse to fix it. That is why most of our failures come from us making excuses instead of dealing with mistakes and not turning them into failures.

7. Not appreciate the moment you live in.

We don’t remember days and years, we remember moments. We often wait for something to happen not noticing that the moment we live in now is great. We should appreciate these small moments, as they make our life the way we will remember it in the future.

8. Ignore the positive things in your life.

When you are stuck in the rut, you sometimes don’t even notice some great things around you that can really bring joy to your life. Sit and watch the ocean for ten minutes on your way to work; smell the fresh flowers in the garden, feed a homeless cat in the street. All those things can make your day way better.
