Want to be where the action is, networking, creating awareness of your organisation, or learning about others? Then get flights arranged, prepare out that travel money card and get yourself in town for one of these major conferences taking place in 2015.

One of the world’s leading events for members of the further education profession takes place in Washington, DC, from 15th to 18th February. The AIEA (Association of International Education Administrators) Annual Conference will bring education leaders from around the world together at the Washington Marriott Wardman for a series of conference sessions and workshops. The theme for the 2015 event is “Leading Global Learning: Envisioning New Paradigms”.

SXSW (South by Southwest) is an annual series of conferences and festivals centred on the music, film and interactive centres. Taking place as usual in March in Austin, Texas, you may find that attending events such as the Trade Show or SXSW Gaming Expo are where your business needs you to be. In your downtime you needn’t worry about spending time in a soulless hotel bar – you could find yourself lucky enough to attend a film screening or a concert by a top band as part of the wider SXSW schedule.

If you are involved in information architecture then you need to be in Minneapolis from 22nd to 26th April. The sixth annual IA Summit is taking place here at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis. The organisers – all volunteers – bill the event as “the world’s most prestigious gathering of information architects, user experience designers, content strategists, and all those who work to create and manage information spaces.” While there will be a full schedule of serious business, including Ignite talks and round table discussions, IA Summit doesn’t take itself too seriously with karaoke and games nights lined up too.

Closer to home, April also sees the IOHA (International Occupational Hygiene Association) hold its 10th International Scientific Conference in London. From the 25th to the 30th of the month, the London Metropole Hotel will see delegates come together to discuss the vision of “Building on Occupational Hygiene Together”. Themes featured will include Exposure Science, Epidemiology and Ergonomics.

There are countless other conferences taking place all over the world in 2015 and there is one for every trade, and every profession. Look into what’s relevant to your organisation and don’t miss out. Ensure you and your colleagues and staff are equipped with all the right tools like business cards, information packs and travel currency cards so that the most can be made from such key events.
