[Infographic][UK] Keep Your Business Going, Rain Or Shine

Just what exactly is going on with the weather at the moment?

The UK being what it is, we’re not averse to a bit of rain. However, what we’ve seen over the last few weeks has verged slightly on the side of ridiculous.

By now, the majority of us will be familiar with the infamous image of the railway line hanging mid-air in Dawlish, Devon, when the sea wall beneath it collapsed. It was eroded away very quickly, after being battered by the elements.

That’s now exactly what’s happening to the business prospects of many firms across the country as well. The weather is continuing to pummel large parts of the UK, causing countless transport delays and effectively grinding certain sections of the economy to a halt.

As a result, firms are being left in limbo, with workers not able to commute into the office and vital meetings with clients having to be postponed. As shown in the Buzz Conferencing infographic below, 150,000 business trips are lost every year because of travel disruptions. Have you already been added to this statistic?

Going forward, responsible business owners will already be considering how they can avoid this interference from happening again. Teleconferencing services could provide the solution, ensuring the drop in productivity doesn’t take place, by allowing staff to work from home when they would otherwise not be able to travel in.

Using these facilities, they can still go to those meetings and keep up with the day-to-day running of the office, without even venturing outdoors (although would doesn’t work for many industries, such as those who have to work at the F&B food services or those having to go train to drive a heavy goods vehicle at HGV Express, for example). In the meantime, we’ll continue our countdown to the return of the sunshine, whenever that may be.
