We know that big businesses rule the world – and so much more than even governments – but which corporations are those that are so large and control so much market share they pretty much dominate their space?
Let’s just take banking, for example. The largest banks hold assets of around a total of $25.1 trillion, with ICBC of China alone controlling $2.95 trillion in assets, over 18,000 outlets, and 108 branches globally. UK’s HSBC Holdings has some $2.68 trillion in assets, 6,600 offices in 80 countries overseeing 55 million customers, while Germany’s Deutsche Bank manages $2.6 trillion in assets, has 2,963 branches across 70 countries and managing 46 million customers. All up they control enough wealth to fund the federal U.S. government for over 7 years!
And how about my favorite industry, beer? Beer giant Anheuser-Busch InBev controlls over 200 beer brands made in 30 countries that’s sold in 130 countries, such as Stella Artois, Spaten, Rolling Rock, Michelob, Hoegaarden, Budweiser and many more.
Here’s an infographic that looks at the various giant corporations that dominate their various industries and sectors:
