Today is the 10th anniversary of Safer Internet Day, organized by Insafe – a European network of Awareness Centres promoting safe, responsible use of the Internet and mobile devices – to promote the safer and more responsible use of online technology, particularly with the increasing connectivity on mobile in young people around the world.
One key objective this year is to ‘connect with respect’ – which aims to inform, educate and advise users on how to improve their personal safety while surfing online, taking responsibility for their own actions while also respecting the rights of others.
It’s crucial for us to educate younger Internet users on proper online etiquette as well as the importance of online security and privacy. To this end, Effendy Ibrahim, Norton Internet Safety Advocate and Director for Asia, Norton by Symantec, has provided a list of top 10 tips for parents and care givers for ensuring young people remain protected online.
