Acquisition can be a strategic pathway of growth for start-ups. Examples of successful acquisitions are also plenty, such as Amazon acquiring Zappos, and more recently and closer to home, McAfee buying Singapore-based mobile security software startup TenCube. MIT Enterprise Forum of Singapore‘s upcoming event on Wednesday October 13, 2010 will feature Warren Katz, CEO of VT Systems, who will share his experience – he co-founded MAK Technologies in 1990 until its was acquired by VT Systems – of being acquired as a startup.
Katz – who mentors startups for TechStars, a highly-selective, mentorship-driven seed stage investment program in Boston, Boulder, New York City and Seattle – will be sharing his experience of going through an merger and acquisition event and his insights on cashflow for small firms. He will also describe how acquisition has brought international growth and strategic alliances to his business.
