  1. Is it possible to sell idol apparels(replicas) & merchandises on pushcarts?? Do i need any license?? Or is it illegal to sell replicas?? it will be targeting the KPOP Fans in SG as the korean wave is trending in singapore.

    • A lot of replica merchandise vendors do it without licensing, but you may get into trouble if infringed companies decide to sue. Many Korean artiste management and music companies are very protective about their image and intellectual property (and rightly so).

  2. Hi,

  9. Hi Daniel,
This is kelz . Theres afew things i need to seek ur advice.
I love drawing and recently drew mangas of kpop celebrities.
Having the intention to print them on tee shirts and sell.
But theres alot of things that i might need to know.

    1. Should i register my design ( protect my drawing designs) and where to register in singapore?
    2. Is it legal to draw celebrities anime , print the anime on tee shirts n sell?
    3. Should i start a blogshop or promote my products to retailers eg. Bugis village or etc . If so do i need to register license to sell on blogshop amd where to register?

I am very creative but i need ppl to give me advice n guide me along to build up my brand and
Fufill my dream to sell my drawings.

If possible u may wish to advice me via email kelvin23lzr@hotmail.sg . Many thanks.

    • Hi Kelz,

Firstly, I’m no lawyer so you’ll probably want to speak to an IP lawyer (i.e. my advice is given based on what I know and you take it up at your own risk). You can register any designs with Intectually Property Office of Singapore IPOS (www.ipos.gov.sg).

      1. Registering to protect your designs is an expensive endeavor so while it will be good (especially for your logo), protecting each and every design may not be a viable option.

      2. It is not illegal to draw a celebrity’s image for commercial purposes, as long as you do not infringe on someone else’s design. However, that said, the artiste management company may have different ideas especially if you prove extremely successful (or if your designs are disrespectful to the artiste in any way).

      3. I can’t advise on distribution since you should know better where your target market is, as well as pricing of your products. Blogshops, pushcarts and pop-up stores are all viable options depending on rentals and traffic.

      Hope that helps.

      Daniel

  10. Hello. I would want to rent a push cart. Trying out a busniess on aroma (snor free). Am first time doing this. So hope anyone could help me by telling more about how the rental goes about doing? Normally how much does it cost per month? As I may be busy to wait for the reply, this is my e-mail – misspigge@hotmail.com

    Thanks.

    • Hi Misspigge,

For rental prices it is best to ask the rentals direct from the building management. Prices vary from place to place and have different clauses.

  18. hi:
I am new in push cart. I will like to rent a push cart selling bags.
and the location will be most likely at the central area. Can you please let me know the price and how should I contact the person in charge??

  19. hello!

im new in this area,i have found some available pushcarts for renting but i dont know where i can find suitable suppliers. By the way i intend to sell korean stationery.
where can i find singapore wholesalers or suppliers?
what if i import directly from korea? do i need to pay tax?

    thank you!

    • If you get from Singaporean wholesalers or suppliers, there is usually a pretty high markup so your profit margins won’t be too good. Most people I know contact suppliers directly, or use services such as Alibaba.com to source for reputable suppliers. There are dedicated guides to tell you how to import into Singapore.

  20. hello!

im interested in renting a pushcart and intend to sell stationery. what kind of license do i need to get?

  21. Hi

Does anyone know if selling food at boxshop or pushcarts are allowed? Is there a license required for that?

The food item is actually homemade cookies.

    Cheers!

  22. Hi,

Bedok Point B1 are opening up spaces for pushcarts rental.

I like to know if the crowds there good?? i am new and are looking for suitable places. The rental is $4800 and sign two years contract.
    I am selling baby/kids Dress… any recommendations?

    Thanks!!

    Reply

    • Hi Tracy,

That rental price is usual in the industry. Bedok Point is likely to see huge crowds especially in its first few months of operations. The good thing is that from what I see of the current tenant mix, you won’t have much of a competitor for baby/children’s clothes.

  23. Hi,

I am looking to start a push cart selling ladies apparels and accessories. I am thinking to have a half shop space or push cart. Yet I wish to know how much for the rental? Do anyone got any info regarding this matter? what is you recommendation.?

    • Hi Eddie,

You’ll have to call the landlords to find out rental prices – it can vary from location to location and hence it’s best to do your own research.

  25. hi.. i am new and going into this push cart business… i would like to know if selling mini potted plants is allowed? was thinking abt it… hope to hear some suggestion and comments,… thanks a lot..

    • Hi Davis (I’m assuming that’s your name),

There should be nothing stopping you from selling mini potted plants. I haven’t actually seen those around so it may actually work if marketed the right way – “Easy Herb Gardens” for those who love cooking at home, or “Grow Your Love Plants” for lovers to give each other, etc.

      Go ahead and try it!

      Daniel

      • oh.. thanks alot.. cos i dun see any around.. so i thought it was not allowed.. haha. anyway, maybe my this post came out.. after awhle, there will be ppl selling it then.. haha.. thanks a lot..

  29. Hi,

I heard from my friends that HarbourFront Centre Level 3 are opening up spaces for pushcarts rental more for children/family related stuff.

I like to know if the crowds there good?? i am new and are looking for suitable places.
I am selling kids educational products… any recommendations?

    Thanks!!

    • Hi Chloe,

Actually I am not certain HarbourFront would be suitable – the traffic there is not impressive, and tends to attract travelers who are going to and from the nearby Indonesian islands. You should look at more family-friendly malls, such as United Square, Parkway Parade, or Tanglin Mall.

Alternatively, consider selling these online! Then to promote your products give out flyers or stick up leaflets near kindergartens and nursery schools.
